Working with Negativity in Practice

When negativity arises during your classes, programs, or personal practices, understanding how to manage it becomes essential.
As you engage in asana, pranayama, or kundalini practices, you are working deeply with the body, mind, breath, and emotions. Just as physical exercise releases sweat and toxins from the body, inner practices begin to release deeper layers of stored tension.
Through breathwork, carbon dioxide and stagnant energies are expelled. In the same way, deeper internal work begins to bring up karmic patterns, emotional residues, and subconscious attachments.
This is a natural process.
Through consistent physical practice:
• The body becomes purified
• Energetic knots begin to open
• Blood circulation improves

Because of this cleansing, you may sometimes feel:
• tired
• slightly dizzy
• emotionally sensitive
This is not something to fear.
After deeper breathing practices, you may also notice:
• moments of mental silence
• inner stillness
• emotional release
Sometimes emotions may arise unexpectedly:
• crying
• laughter
• unexplained feelings
When this happens, the key is simple:
Do not get involved.
Just witness.
If you become identified with these emotions, you create more samskaras (impressions).
But when you remain a witness, those patterns begin to dissolve.
Growth in practice should always be:
• gradual
• steady
• conscious
Gently challenge yourself, but without force.
Expand your capacity step by step.
Avoid extremes.
Avoid comparison.
Stay present with your own process.
Witnessing is transformation.
